Pacific FC Hires Pedro Guerreiro as Goalkeeper Coach

Langford, BC – (July 27, 2023) – Pacific FC bolstered its coaching staff this week with the addition of goalkeeper coach Pedro Guerreiro.

Guerreiro has extensive experience worldwide, working with ‘keepers in his home country of Portugal as well as in Finland, China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

“Pedro comes to us with great professional experience,” said James Merriman, Head Coach, Pacific FC. “He’s coached in several different countries in top leagues and brings a wealth of knowledge to our staff and players.”

Guerreiro most recently spent time as the first team goalkeeping coach with Clube Desportivo de Mafra and União Desportiva Vilafranquense in Portugal in 2023 and 2022.

He has also previously served as the first team goalkeeping coach at Tornio Pallo-47 in Finland (2021-2022); Académico de Viseu Futebol Clube in Portugal (2020-2021); Al-Mujazzal Club in Saudi Arabia (2019); and Dibba Al Hisn Sports Club in the United Arab Emirates (2018-2019). Guerreiro also worked as both first team goalkeeping coach and head of the goalkeeping academy at two clubs in his native Portugal, Futebol Clube Barreirense and Grupo Desportivo Fabril, from 2009 to 2018 and headed up the goalkeeping academy at Guangzhou Evergrande Football School in China from 2019 to 2020.

He has worked with top pro goalkeepers such as José Moreira of CD Cova Piedade and Amir Abedzadeh of Sociedad Desportiva Ponferradina.

At Pacific FC, Guerreiro will work with Emil Gazdov and Kieran Baskett following the recent departure of goalkeeper coach Daniel Ortiz, who has joined Brentford FC of the English Premier League as an assistant goalkeeper coach.

“Pedro has a great energy, is very hardworking and we are lucky to add him to our Club,” said Merriman.
