The Canadian Premier League announced on Wednesday its Player of the Month award for June, with Pacific FC attacker Ayman Sellouf taking home the honours. This is the second straight month a Trident has won after Sean Young earned the award in May.
Sellouf finished the month with two goals, three assists, and multiple electric match-winning performances. In two starts and three appearances off the bench, Sellouf cemented himself as one of the flashiest wingers the CPL has seen, but also one with end product.
In his first appearance of the month, Sellouf came off the bench in the Derby against Vancouver FC with the score 2-2 and within minutes had a goal and an assist to push the Tridents on to victory. He was subsequently awarded the Gatorade Performance of the Match.

After two matches without a goal contribution, but still playing a role in Pacific continuing their win streak, Sellouf helped the Tridents take home three points again, this time against Valour FC on July 21. Again called upon off the bench to change the game, Sellouf did just that when his direct running opened up a lane to slip in Easton Ongaro who hammered the ball into the back of the net and sealed a 1-0 victory for the Tridents. Sellouf’s contribution again earned him the Gatorade Performance of the Match – his second of the month and third of the season.

In the last match of the month, the Dutchman was again the creative spark for Pacific in the club’s 2-2 draw with Atlético Ottawa. First, Sellouf delivered a pin-point cross for Thomas Meilleur-Giguère to head home just before the halftime whistle.

Then, after the break, Sellouf again walked over to take a corner but this time spotted Ottawa’s goalkeeper Nathan Ingham off his line. Sellouf’s quick-thinking and technical ability combined to produce an Olimpico goal straight from the corner.

After a spectacular month of June, Sellouf helped cement Pacific as the top team in the Canadian Premier League through breathtaking displays of dribbling, finishing, and creative ability, and is a deserved winner of the Player of the Month.
