3 Tridents earn spots on Gatorade’s Team of the Week (Week 10)

The Gatorade Team of the Week for the tenth week of Canadian Premier League action in 2024, brought to you by Kristian Jack and Oliver Platt.

TOTW 2024 — Week 10

Goalkeeper

Thomas Vincensini (York United) 

Vincensini made a stunning eight saves to help keep York United in front during a 2-1 victory over top of the table Atlético Ottawa on Saturday. This included an unbelievable stop on a rocket from distance from Amer Didić.

Defenders

Kadin Chung (Vancouver FC)

Chung made several outstanding defensive plays to help Vancouver FC keep a clean sheet in Kelowna. Chung had two successful dribbles, won nine of 11 duels and made two tackles.

Frank Sturing (York United)

Sturing was outstanding as York United picked up a big three points in the nation’s capital. He completed 46 of his 51 passes, won eight of 11 duels — including three of four in the air, and completed three tackles.

Daan Klomp (Cavalry FC)

Klomp put in a big shift as Cavalry were able to hold on for a scoreless draw in Kelowna on Sunday. He won four of five aerial duels and made seven clearances, critical to keeping the match level.

Eric Lajeunesse (Pacific FC)

The Pacific fullback put in a strong performance against Valour on Friday, with a match-leading 99 touches. He also made four interceptions, won three tackles and contested 13 duels during an all-action outing.

Midfielders

Sean Young (Pacific FC)

Young stepped up and opened the scoring from the penalty spot for Pacific FC in Winnipeg. He was otherwise outstanding in the middle of the park, winning possession five times and winning six of ten duels.

Steffen Yeates (Pacific FC)

The newly minted Trinidad and Tobago international has been a key player for Pacific this season. On Friday, he had an assist on three chances created, while completing two dribbles and attempting 22 passes in the final third.

Massimo Ferrin (Halifax Wanderers) 

Ferrin delivered for Halifax against Forge once again on Saturday, scoring a brace in a 2-2 draw at the Wanderers Grounds. Since joining the Halifax Wanderers last season, Ferrin has scored five goals in five matches against the Hamilton club.

Béni Badibanga (Forge FC) 

Badibanga scored the opener for Forge on Saturday in Halifax with a lovely diving header. He was a threat throughout the match, with eight attempted dribbles, and won three fouls. while completing 35 of 38 passes.

Clément Bayiha (Halifax Wanderers) 

Bayiha has proven to be an excellent add for the Halifax Wanderers over the last few weeks, and took full advantage of his first start with the club. He had an assist, completed two dribbles and won possession eight times during a quality overall outing.

Forwards

Brian Wright (York United) 

A brace from Wright delivered York United a monumental victory over league-leaders Atlético Ottawa in the nation’s capital. He now has six goals on the season, which leads the Canadian Premier League.
