Additional capacity added to Starlight Stadium as sellout crowd is expected for Canadian Championship Semifinal

Langford, BC – (May 17, 2023) – Tickets for Pacific FC’s upcoming Ferryside Derby against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the semifinal of the 2023 Canadian Championship are 75 per cent sold, prompting PFC and City of Langford to add additional capacity for next week’s match.

Pacific is set to host Vancouver on Wednesday, May 24 at 7 pm PT, the second all-time meeting between the BC-based clubs. Pacific FC previously defeated the ‘Caps 4-3 in August 2021, in the preliminary round of that year’s Canadian Championship.

“We look forward to defending our Island pride in this rare meeting of two of BC’s professional clubs from different leagues,” said Paul Beirne, Managing Director, Pacific FC. “Ticket sales have been brisk as we expect to host football fans from both side of the Strait of Georgia in this Battle for BC.”

The winner of this match will advance to the Canadian Championship final, which will be held between June 6 and 8. The winner of the match between Pacific and Vancouver will earn the right to host either Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League or CF Montréal of Major League Soccer in the final battle for the Voyageurs Cup. The team that lifts the Cup will also earn a spot in next year’s expanded Concacaf Champions League.

Tickets for next week’s match are available here. Fans in attendance can look forward to food trucks from Kattia’s Kitchen, Greek on the Street, FreshCoast, and Max’s Mini Donuts. Young fans can enjoy the Peninsula Co-op Family Zone, which will include a balloon artist, face painter and games and inflatables.
