Amer Didic joins Pacific FC for 2022!

Pacific FC have signed Amer Didic ahead of the 2022 Canadian Premier League season.

The former FC Edmonton centre-back joins the CPL champions as a free agent.

Didic, 27, has been with FC Edmonton since the CPL’s inaugural season and quickly established himself as one of the best defenders in the league. Prior to joining Pacific, Didic also spent time in the Sporting Kansas City organization, playing for Sporting KC’s USL affiliate club Swope Park Rangers where he made 84 appearances from 2016-2018. Before joining Edmonton, Didic also briefly played for the USL’s San Antonio FC in 2019.

Over the course of his three seasons in the Canadian Premier League, Didic’s defensive instincts and ball-playing ability saw him stand out amongst the league’s talented group of centre-backs. The six-foot-four defender made 48 appearances for FC Edmonton during his time in the Albertan capital and is renowned as an imposing presence on the pitch. Didic, who played in 25 matches for the Eddies in 2021, finished with the fourth-most aerial duels won, led the CPL in interceptions and clearances, and chipped in with three goals all with his head.

Didic’s stellar play earned him a call-up to the Canadian men’s national team in October 2019, becoming just the second CPL player to earn a call-up while in the league. Didic became the first active Canadian Premier League player to appear in a match for the national team when he was named in the starting XI for Canada’s friendly match against Barbados in January 2020. Didic scored in the same match against Barbados, earning another first for himself as the first CPL player to score for the national team. The newest addition to the Tridents has two caps with the national team to his name.

Didic becomes the first new addition to the Pacific FC squad this offseason and will be joined by more arrivals shortly.
