The Canadian Premier League announced the full 2024 schedule today, allowing Trident fans the opportunity to start circling dates on their calendars ahead of the upcoming campaign.
As they did last year, Pacific will open the 2024 campaign with six of the clubs first eight games taking place in Langford as the Tridents defend their home turf at Starlight Stadium. Their two away games during that span are far from cross-country expeditions, as Pacific travels to Calgary in round three and takes the ferry to claim their title as BC’s best versus Vancouver FC in round seven.
The CPL Opening Day triple header closes out at Starlight Stadium as Pacific hosts the Halifax Wanderers, before welcoming Valour to the west coast six days later. They then head to Calgary for the aforementioned match against Cavalry FC, before returning home for their longest homestand of the season — where PFC will host each of the Ontario teams. A trip to Vancouver follows, before returning home for a rematch against the Calgarians.
Pacific FC will close out the 2024 campaign with three of their last five matches on the road, but finish their campaign on home turf, hosting Forge in a rematch of the 2021 CPL Final on Saturday, October 19th.
We’ve highlighted some key matches ahead of the 2024 campaign below!
Pacific FC will kick off the 2024 season at Starlight Stadium on April 13th at 7pm PST with a playoff rematch versus our cross-country rivals, Halifax Wanderers. In a battle of the coasts, Tridents will look to repeat their success in 2023 ending the Wanderers season last October in a fierce 1-0 match at the Wanderers Grounds. With both clubs setting high expectations for the 2024 CPL season, Trident fan support could be the deciding factor in what will surely be a close game.
The second annual BC Derby will take place at Starlight Stadium on September 14th at 2pm PST as Pacific FC host their interprovincial rivals, Vancouver FC. Last year’s home opener saw Pacific blank Vancouver, 1-0, in Vancouver FC’s inaugural CPL match. The Tridents followed that victory with a 6-3 stomping at Willoughby Community Park in a contender for CPL match of the year. Vancouver FC showed their feathers later that year evening the season series at two games a piece, making this year’s BC Derby an event worth attending.
Decision day always brings the drama and excitement, the twists and the turns, with this year hopefully proving no different. This season’s potentially crucial final day will be a 2021 CPL Final rematch as Pacific FC host Forge FC on October 19th at 12pm PST at Starlight Stadium. Forge FC is entering the 2024 campaign coming off of back-to-back CPL championships after defeating Calvary FC in the final last season. With two highly touted rosters, this match will bring both talent and playoff implications to Starlight Stadium this fall.
