Pacific FC Signs Colombian Youth International Centre Back Juan Quintana

Langford, BC – April 16, 2024 – Pacific FC today announced the signing of Juan Quintana to a one-year contract plus two options, which could keep him with the club through the 2026 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season.

The 20-year-old Colombian centre back has played professionally for Orsomarso SC in Palmira, Western Colombia since 2021.

“Quintana is ball-winning central defender with good physicality who can play anywhere across our back line,” said James Merriman, Head Coach, Pacific FC. “He is an extremely motivated young player with good experience, a strong mentality and a high potential to develop.”

Standing at six feet tall, Quintana is known for his speed and ball control on the backline.

Quintana has played in the first and second divisions for Orsomarso SC, tallying more than 3,200 minutes of play over 37 appearances. His resume includes five appearances in Colombia’s domestic cup play, Copa Colombia, for a total of 355 minutes.

Quintana joins Ndom, Meilleur-Giguère, Amedume, Dada-Luke, Mukumbilwa as well as recent signings Greco-Taylor and Lajeunesse at the back for the Tridents. After a strong showing defensively in the home opener, the Tridents look to stake their claim as one of the best defensive teams in the league with an abundance of young, high-motor players hoping to elevate their game to the next level.

This signing marks Pacific’s fourth international signing of the season. Quintana will join Aly Ndom, Reon Moore,  and Andrei Tîrcoveanu who all joined the club ahead of the 2024 CPL season.
