After a very heavy home schedule during the first half of the Canadian Premier League season, Pacific FC now has only five regular season home matches remaining in 2023. The Tridents will spend most of the second half of the season on the road, but each of the final five home games is compelling in their own way.
Let’s look forward to each of the home game left on the schedule and see what PFC supporters have in store on each occasion.
Her Love of Sports: Women & Girls in Sport Match – Friday, July 21 @ 7pm vs Forge FC
Starting things off is the second-ever Women & Girls in Sport Match presented by Her Love of Sports on Friday, July 21st.
In 2021, during the first Women & Girls in Sport match, the club welcomed numerous Olympians and other former athletes to the ground to honour their accomplishments and highlight the incredible female athletes in our community. Things will be very similar this time around, although some other fun additions will also be in the mix. In collaboration with Her Love of Sports, PFC supporters will again be able to meet and greet with the athletes prior to the match and receive autographs, and at halftime the athletes will be honoured with an on-pitch ceremony.
Volkswagen: Pride Match – Sunday, August 13 @ 1:30pm vs Atlético Ottawa
Our annual Pride Match is always a fantastic experience and is sure to be a ton of fun again this year, especially given it’s the only PFC home game in August this season. Come early on Sunday, August 13th for pre-match performances in partnership with the Victoria Pride Society and join us for a celebration of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community on the Island.
Last season’s Pride Match was both a jubilant affair on and off the pitch, with the celebratory atmosphere in the ground match by the result on the pitch. A 3-0 win for the Tridents in 2022 means there are even more positive vibes associated with the club’s annual Pride Match, and 2023’s event promises to be even better!
Telus: BC Children’s Hospital Match – Saturday, September 2 @ 1pm vs Valour FC
On September 2nd, Pacific is celebrating our health care heroes and helping fundraise for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s “foremost teaching and research facility for child health” and has provided “expert health care, including mental health care, for the most seriously ill or injured children from across British Columbia”. In other words, the work they do saves the lives of those children most in need in our community. Pacific FC is proud to partner with Telus – our 2023 front of jersey sponsor – and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation to raise awareness and funds to support the children and those heroes who work to better their lives every day.
As part of the initiative, Pacific Football Club will donate $5 from each ticket sold through this link directly to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
CIBC: Fan Appreciation Match – Friday, September 8 @ 7pm vs HFX Wanderers FC
The next weekend, on September 8th, the club will be celebrating those who make the noise and spur the team on to victory: the supporters! Join us as we salute the Trident fans on Fan Appreciation Night presented by CIBC. If you’re reading this you’re most likely a PFC supporter already, so why would you miss out on the chance to give yourself and your fellow supporters a pat on the back?
September 8th will be a night to celebrate and recognize those who have come out and supported us through thick and thin. Thank you PFC fans!
Orange Shirt Day Match – Saturday, September 30 @ 2pm vs Vancouver FC
For the second straight season, Pacific will play on September 30th – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Also known as Orange Shirt Day, the day marks an important moment of reflection and is centred around “creating awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of Indian Residential Schools”.
It’s important to remember that although on Orange Shirt Day it is crucial to reflect, have conversations, and acknowledge the impact of the residential school system, it cannot be a one-off gesture. In the words of the Orange Shirt Society, truth and reconciliation is a year-round commitment.
Whether it’s a reflective, heart-warming, or celebratory occasion, there are plenty of reasons to attend each one of Pacific FC’s five remaining home games this season.
On top of that, the team remains top of the table in the Canadian Premier League and will be looking to win each of their home games the rest of the way to maintain that spot.
With a passionate crowd behind them at each match, the team should be able to pull that off in tandem with the supporters.
Ticket options for each match can be found here.
