The Canadian Premier League announced the Team of the Week for Week 7 of the CPL season on Monday, with Adonijah Reid and Sean Young earning spots after Pacific FC’s 1-1 draw with HFX Wanderers FC on Saturday.
Reid notched his first CPL goal of the season in the match on Saturday. Pacific’s no. 10 opened the scoring with a brilliant individual burst of pace and expert finish in the 32nd minute to open his account in the league. After receiving the ball from Young, Reid used his acceleration and composure to get past the Halifax defenders and into the box before slotting the ball into the bottom corner. The 23-year-old also had the most touches in the opposition box from anyone in purple and again showed his great hold-up play as a centre-forward.
GOAL 🔱@Pacificfccpl STRIKE FIRST!
Adonijah Reid gives The Tridents a 1-0 lead over @HFXWanderersFC with a well taken goal.
It’s his first #CanPL goal and it’s well deserved!

Young is quickly becoming a staple of the CPL’s Team of the Week. The 22-year-old was named to the Team of the Week for the fourth time in the first seven weeks of season, firmly establishing himself as once of the best players in the Canadian Premier League. On Saturday, Young was the man to lay on the assist for Reid’s opening goal. That was his fourth assist of the season in all competitions, and means that he now has at least one goal contribution (goal or assist) in the last four league games.
This is the second time Reid has been named in the Team of the Week, and the fourth appearance for Young.
