Goalkeeper

Marco Carducci (Cavalry FC)

Carducci kept his second clean sheet of the season during a tidy performance against Forge on Saturday. He made a pair of saves, while also doing very well with the ball at his feet to keep the Calgary side in possession.

Defender

Daan Klomp (Cavalry FC)

Klomp was tremendous against one of the Canadian Premier League’s most dynamic attacks, winning five of eight duels, including two of three aerially — and possession nine times.

Thomas Meilleur-Giguère (Pacific FC)

Despite going down to ten men away from home, Pacific FC held on for their sixth clean sheet of the season in big part thanks to the efforts of Meilleur-Giguère. The central defender made four clearances, and completed 93.8 per cent of his passes playing a key role in organizing the Tridents’ defence.

Malik Owolabi-Belewu (Forge FC)

Owolabi-Belewu made multiple outstanding defensive plays to keep his side close against Cavalry on Saturday. He won three tackles, and possession seven times, while also completing a tidy 55 of his 59 attempted passes as his stellar season continues.

Midfielders

Fraser Aird (Cavalry FC)

Aird makes his fourth appearance of the season in the CPL Team of the Week, this time after setting up Cavalry’s opener against Forge with a lovely low cross. While he wasn’t officially credited with an assist as Sergio Camargo got a key touch on the way through, it was one of 13 crosses he played on Saturday, and 23 passes in the final third. He continues to be a key offensive outlet for Cavalry.

Ollie Bassett (Atlético Ottawa)

The 2023 CPL Golden Boot winner is finding his form, converting a penalty to make it goals in back-to-back matches. Bassett was also central to everything Atleti did in attack, with four chances created, and eight crosses, while completing 49 of his 53 attempted passes.

Elijah Adekugbe (York United)

Adekugbe bossed the centre of the park on Sunday against Vancouver FC. Playing at the base of the Nine Stripes midfield, he failed to complete just one of his 58 attempted passes, while winning possession ten times and making five tackles.

Matteo de Brienne (Atlético Ottawa)

The Atleti fullback was the best player on the pitch on Sunday with an outstanding effort on both sides of the ball. He created a pair of chances, playing some lovely balls in behind, and had two shot attempts himself while completing a pair of dribbles. Defensively, he won nine duels and had four tackles.

Forwards

Moses Dyer (Vancouver FC)

Dyer equalized from the penalty spot late in Sunday’s match at York Lions Stadium. It was the reward for another dynamic performance up top, including creating a chance, two dribbles and 15 passes in the final third.

Markiyan Voytsekhovskyy (York United)

Playing a new position as a number nine, Voytsekhovskyy made the most of his opportunity on Sunday against Vancouver FC. He scored a lovely goal in the 18th minute, before adding a first half assist.

Tobias Warschewski (Cavalry FC)

Warschewski is now tied with Rubén del Campo for the CPL lead in goals, as he bagged his fifth of the season against Forge on Saturday. As always, it came from a total performance for the Cavalry striker, who also created a pair of chances, had five shot attempts, and contested 18 duels.
