PFC earns second 3-0 victory of preseason in win over Whitecaps FC II

Pacific FC won 3-0 over Vancouver Whitecaps II in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday.

It was the Tridents second preseason game of the year, as well as their second 3-0 win, with the other coming against the University of Victoria last week at Centennial Stadium.

After hitting the crossbar three times, PFC’s breakthrough goal came halfway through the second half. Two more goals followed quickly as the team continued to impress this preseason.

Recap

Despite a goalless first half, PFC were on top right from the first whistle. Manny Aparicio was unlucky to not open the scoring when his strike hit the crossbar in the 25th minute.

After multiple other efforts on goal hit the woodwork in the early stages of the second half, Pacific finally opened the scoring through Thomas Meilleur-Giguère when he found the back of the net from inside the box.

New signings Easton Ongaro then pounced on a lapse in concentration from the Whitecaps II backline to score his first goal of the preseason and make the game 2-0 in the Tridents’ favour just minutes later.

Sean Young then rounded off the scoring in style with a classy finish into the bottom right corner from 25 yards out to make it 3-0.

The boys continued to push right to the final whistle with new captain Josh Heard notably looking dangerous after coming on at halftime. The result means that Pacific have now scored six goals and conceded zero with two preseason matches in the books.
