Who Got Next? Trials – Presented by Pacific Football Club

Uncovering the Next Generation of Talent

Pacific Football Club is proud to announce the Who Got Next? Trials, taking place from November 13-15, 2024, at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC. This two-day open trial (with an exclusive showcase match on the third day for select invitees) offers aspiring soccer players the opportunity to prove they have what it takes to join the ranks of a professional club.

The trials are designed to identify talent age 16 and older who are ready to take their game to the next level. Participants will be evaluated through rigorous training sessions and match play by Pacific FC’s coaching staff, with the ultimate goal of earning an invitation to the club’s 2025 pre-season camp, and potentially a professional contract.

“Our club has had success cultivating local young talent through our development programs into professional signings in the Canadian Premier League,” said James Merriman, Head Coach, Pacific FC. “Our country has an incredible number of undiscovered footballers, and we look forward to welcoming them to our open trials and considering them for Pacific FC’s pre-season camp.”

James Merriman, along with Assistant Coach Armando Sa and Pacific FC’s seasoned technical staff, will lead the trials. With years of experience on and off the field, the coaching team has played an integral role in the development of young talent. Merriman has overseen the rise of several standout young players who have established themselves as top talent in both the Canadian Premier League and other professional leagues such as the MLS.

A Proven Pathway to the Pros

Pacific FC has a history of providing genuine opportunities for young players who prove they are ready for the professional stage. Names like Sean Young, Lukas MacNaughton and Alejandro Diaz, who developed in Pacific FC’s system and have since established themselves as key contributors in the Canadian Premier League, MLS and internationally are just some of the success stories born out of the club’s commitment to youth development.

This commitment is central to Pacific FC’s identity. The Who Got Next Trials are more than just an opportunity—they are a genuine platform for talented athletes to earn their shot at professional soccer.
